Giving Opportunities

Enhanced Membership Participation

Each year, we ask that those who are able to increase their membership level to do so at an enhanced level. These enhanced levels include the following and donors are acknowledged on the plaque immediately outside of the sanctuary:

Haverim (Friends)             $1,800

Bonim (Builders)               $3,600

Re’im (Partners)                $5,400

Shomrim (Guardians)        $7,200

Malachim (Angels)            $10,000+

These dues are in addition to regular annual dues and specifically help to defray the costs for families who cannot afford to pay their full dues.

Annual Fund

This cornerstone fund raising appeal invites our congregation to provide annual support coincident with the High Holy Days, a traditional time to support one's synagogue. This financial participation is essential because dues and tuition are not sufficient to maintain a progressive Jewish presence in the.

In addition, the donations ensure that our programs are fully funded and that all who wish to join our congregation and participate in our community can do so regardless of their ability to pay. At Temple Sinai, no one is turned away due to financial hardship.

Planned Giving

By including Temple Sinai in your financial and estate plans, you may increase your current income and provide future support for areas of the congregation that are important to you. Often, you can make a larger gift than you might have thought possible, while also benefiting yourself and your family. Planned gifts may be eligible for immediate tax deductions or reduce estate taxes for you and your children.

Honor a loved one with a leaf on our Tree of Life, mark the passage of a child's graduation on our newly installed Sinai Wall of Scholars, or remember a Yahrzeit with a dedication on our Sanctuary wall.

To learn more about participating financially at Temple Sinai or to address any questions, please contact Joe Slade, Executive Director, at or (201) 568-3035, ext. 201.

Tree of Life

Honor a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, a new baby, a special birthday or anniversary by contributing to this art work on the wall of the Temple lobby with an engraved, permanent installation:

Brass leaf              $500

Copper leaf           $1,000

Pomegranate        $1,800

Garden rock          $3,600

Your donation pays tribute to beloved family members and friends who are no longer with us, but whose memory is very much alive.

Hineini for Our Spiritual Home

The vision of Temple Sinai’s Hineini Capital Campaign is to complete a full renovation of our building and create an endowment to sustain our community.

Over the past 65 years, life in general and congregational life at Temple Sinai has changed so much, but our facility has changed very little. Our Board of Trustees, in partnership with our clergy and professional staff, is committed to renovating our building to reflect Temple Sinai’s role as the flagship synagogue for Reform Jews in Northern New Jersey. Just as the five founding families did for us 65 years ago, it’s our turn now to create our legacy. In the same way that you are participating meaningfully in life at Temple Sinai, please participate financially in our Capital Campaign in an amount that is meaningful to you. Every gift is truly appreciated and important.
