6th Grade

6th Grade is a transitional year. As students enter adolescence and begin serious preparation for becoming B'nei Mitzvah, our focus shifts toward supporting and navigating the joys and challenges of this developmental stage. Weekly sessions for 6th grade include tefilah (communal prayer) with a more intentional focus on fluency and familiarity with prayer text and practice leading prayers. The 6th grade curriculum additionally incorporates lessons from Moving Traditions’ B-Mitzvah program.

Essential Learning Questions:

  • What does it mean to become a “Jewish teen” and a “Jewish adult”?
  • How do I want to express my Jewish identity publicly?
  • Why does taking part in Jewish community matter to me?
  • How do I process and understand events that affect Israel and Jewish communities globally?

6th grade meets weekly on Tuesday afternoons, 4:00-6:30pm.

6th Grade students additionally attend a weekly Hebrew decoding lesson remotely via Zoom.
